Christmas Eve Blog: Another system heading in!

Merry Christmas Eve!  I hope your day is going great so far!  Mine is going pretty good.  My son is watching a little TV as I get some work done.  I has been staring at the presents under the tree for a while now.  He better not be unwrapping them and rewrapping them like my sister and I used to do when we where kids.  We had that down to a science.  Hopefully you have all of your shopping done.  I still have some stocking stuffers to get which I will do this afternoon and that is about it.  Plus of course some additional wrapping to do which I hate doing.  I have the next 4 days off, but with a big storm system heading our way, I will be updating you a lot over the next few days. We have a weak wave working through now which has produced a few showers and even a few inches of snow across Nebraska and Iowa.  This is why the clouds have been sticking around.  We will see some sunshine a little later today.  Did you see some of the pics of the tornadoes last night in the SE US.  Wow that was crazy, some huge tornadoes.  I have a bad feeling our spring is going to be very active.  We will still be in the same pattern that we are in now as the Heady Pattern will still be in place.  Lets not worry about that right now.  Take a look at the radar below.

With some sun later today, we should pop into the upper 50s for highs.

Today temps

Temperatures look pretty good again on Christmas Day with highs into the 60-62 degree range.

Friday's Temps

Here is your planner for Christmas.

Christmas Eve Forecast

A big storm system works in over the weekend.  Check out this powerful upper level low on Saturday night.

Saturday night 500

You can see the massive storm on Saturday night in northern Mexico.  The main questions are how much cold air will it have?  Plus where will it track?  If it tracks into eastern MO, it will produce wintry weather in my purple circle on Sunday and Monday.  If it tracks farther west then it shifts west.  If it tracks farther south, the whole storms shifts south with less cold air.  So their is a ton to watch.  On Saturday we will be dealing with heavy rains.

Saturday night Rain

Look at possible rain totals just by Saturday night.

Saturday night rain totals

This has us in the 2-3″ rain range.  I will keep you updated.  Remember for more on this system and my long range forecast go to headypattern.com

Remember that you can sign up for WeatherCall by clicking the WeatherCall link at the top of the page. WeatherCall, in our opinion, is the best tool on the market to keep you safe during severe weather.

Also we have our free WEATHER APP that lets you access our forecast, blog, radar and weather alerts. I think it’s a must if you own an Apple or Android phone.

LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)

SLIGHT CHANCES:  MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.

IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT:  THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US MUCH BETTER PRECIPITATION CHANCES

Next Week: Cold with a wintry mix to start the week on Sunday and Monday.  Cold temperatures stick around through the week with slight chances for rain and snow by the weekend.

Jan 3rd-9th:

Cold with chances for rain and snow on Sunday and Monday.  Staying cool through most of the week again we will see another system working in with rain and snow chances on Wednesday and Thursday.

Jan 10th-16th:

Mild temperatures finally work in with some rain chances on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Cooling down for the weekend with rain or snow chances on Saturday.
