Friday Morning Blog: Rain and Snow working back in

Good Friday morning!  I want to give you a quick weather update with our next system working in.  I am still way under the weather with fighting a sinus infection and a fever on and off.  However, I love the weather and have to watch it of course.  Take a look at the radar below.  We have one system working out to our north.  At the same time a second wave is building in to our SW.

We will see the clouds and mid 40s through the day.  Showers will build in tonight with the rain changing over to some snow after midnight.  There is still HUGE questions on the exact track and strength of the this wave.  If is tracks a little farther north with a closed wave, we are going to get snow.  If it tracks a little farther south, it will just miss to the south.  This is a system could make me look like an idiot.  As of right now here is what I am thinking.  Light snow will pick up late tonight, but mainly along and south of I-44.  If you live in our NW viewing area(Yates Center, Iola, Chanute, Fredonia) you aren’t going to see much if anything at all.  Let me post three maps, morning, noon and night for tomorrow.

Saturday Midday

Saturday evening

You can see we are right on the northern edge of the snow.  So I have to go with 1″ or less if you live north of I-44 for now.  South of I-44 I am going with 1-2″ of snow.  However, when I can nail down that exact track later in the day, I will up the amount in the range of 3-5″ in the heavier band.  The question is where will that band be?  Will it be in Springfield or in our southern counties?  Could it be along I-44?  I will keep you updated and update my long range as will later today.

LONG RANGE FORECAST IS BELOW BASED OFF THE HEADY PATTERN:

Here is your 7-day forecast:

Remember that you can sign up for WeatherCall by clicking the WeatherCall link at the top of the page. WeatherCall, in our opinion, is the best tool on the market to keep you safe during severe weather.

Also we have our free WEATHER APP that lets you access our forecast, blog, radar and weather alerts. I think it’s a must if you own an Apple or Android phone.

LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)

SLIGHT CHANCES:  MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.

IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT:  THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US MUCH BETTER PRECIPITATION CHANCES

Next Week:

Cold most of the week with slight chances for snow on Wednesday and then again on Friday and Saturday.

Jan. 17th-23rd:

Cold most of the week with slight chances for snow on Tuesday.  Another system with rain and snow chances on Friday and Saturday once again.
