Sunday Evening February 14th Update – Bouncing Between Seasons This Week

Good late Sunday evening, everyone! Hopefully, you all had a good Sunday and a good Valentine’s Day. We did have to start the day with light rain/freezing rain across parts of the area, but we improved nicely! We actually saw a period of mostly sunny skies this afternoon before the cloud cover snuck back in. Due to that, we actually saw highs climb into the lower to middle 50s for most spots. So far, the evening has been quiet. However, there were a few showers out in western Kansas. Have a look at the radar below…

The showers out in western Kansas are due to an upper-level disturbance working in across the Plains. This will sweep through the area as we go into the overnight and through Monday morning…

setup

At the very least, the disturbance will keep us cloudy as we go into Monday morning. It may be possible that a stray shower could pop up after 2 AM and by the time the morning rush begins. With that said, though, I think the chance for the stray shower is pretty slim. Just don’t be surprised if a stray shower is around as we start Monday morning near 38°…

mondayam

Just like how our Sunday unfolded, we’ll have the skies eventually go mostly sunny after we get past the morning. With a northwest breeze gusting near 20 mph at times, that’ll keep us from warming up so much. I expect highs Monday afternoon to top out around 56°…

mondaypm

Most of the school/work week stays pretty quiet, but we’re in for another nice warm-up. After we see highs in the 50s again on Tuesday, look at where we go by the middle of the week and into the weekend!

midweekwarmup

It’s not record-breaking, but highs in the 60s and 70s are usually hard to come by during the middle part of February. After we top out near 72° on Thursday, we’ll drop back into the 60s for the weekend due to an incoming storm system by the weekend. For now, it looks as though we could deal with rain and t-storms for late Saturday and early Sunday.

LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)

SLIGHT CHANCES:  MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.

IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT:  THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US MUCH BETTER PRECIPITATION CHANCES

Feb 21st-27th:  A cool start to the week with very slight chances for snow on Monday and Tuesday.  Warming up for the second half of the week with rain chances on Friday and Saturday.

Feb 28th-March 5th:  Rain or snow chances to start the week.  Turning colder and mainly dry through the week.
