Monday Evening February 15th Update – Still Looking at a Nice Warm-Up On The Way

Good Monday evening, everyone. Nick here with the blog update at Doug’s request this evening. Today wasn’t a bad start to the week. After we had to start with cloudy skies and a few showers this morning, we went back to mostly sunny skies. That allowed highs in some spots to go near 60° this afternoon. The clouds are rolling back in for tonight but we’re quiet for this evening on the radar below…

With that said, there are showers working out of Nebraska and into Kansas as we go into the rest of the evening. That’s ahead of another cold front that will work through Tuesday morning…

With the passage of the front, we’ll keep skies mostly cloudy tonight and we could see a few showers pass through as we head into the overnight and by sunrise…

Thankfully, it’ll be warm enough so we’ll deal with spotty rain showers if anything materializes. With that said, it will be cold again tonight with overnight lows dropping into the upper 30s. Joplin should bottom out near 38°…

As we go into the afternoon, we do turn partly sunny as our chance for showers pushes off to the east…

With a northwest wind behind the front, though, we do expect to be a little cooler for Tuesday afternoon compared to today. We expect afternoon highs to top out in the lower to middle 50s…

After tomorrow, we see the 60s return by Wednesday and we’ll go into the 70s for Thursday and Friday. 70s are hard to come by during the month of February, but if Mother Nature wants to give us another taste of spring this week, we’ll take it! We will start to cool back down over this weekend as our next system could bring rain chances back in here.

For Doug’s long range forecast and details on the rest of the winter and spring, he has you covered on  headypattern.com

Have a good night and a great Tuesday!

Nick

LONG RANGE FORECAST IS BELOW BASED OFF THE HEADY PATTERN:

Here is your 7-day forecast:

Remember that you can sign up for WeatherCall by clicking the WeatherCall link at the top of the page. WeatherCall, in our opinion, is the best tool on the market to keep you safe during severe weather.

Also we have our free WEATHER APP that lets you access our forecast, blog, radar and weather alerts. I think it’s a must if you own an Apple or Android phone.

LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)

SLIGHT CHANCES:  MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.

IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT:  THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US MUCH BETTER PRECIPITATION CHANCES

Feb 21st-27th:  A cool start to the week with very slight chances for snow on Monday and Tuesday.  Warming up for the second half of the week with rain chances on Friday and Saturday.

Feb 28th-March 5th:  Rain or snow chances to start the week.  Turning colder and mainly dry through the week.
