Good Thursday evening! I hope you have had a great St. Patrick’s Day as the weather has been fantastic across the region. I had a pretty good day as I got a few things done around the house and then off to work. I have been working and keeping my eye on the basketball games as well as of course it is March Madness. At least my Jayhawks looked pretty decent through the first game during the afternoon hours. They just need to stay hot and they should be in good shape for at least a couple more games.
Well, another storm system is working in the area for us tonight. You can see the rain which has been increasing across central parts of KS. Take a look at the radar below.
We will continue to see the clouds develop through the overnight hours with some showers late tonight. The periods of cold showers will start to really increase during the morning hours on Friday.
Temperatures will be dropping just above the surface through the day. This is going to allow the rain to start to mix with some snow as we work through the day. I think we will see a rain/snow mix especially in our northern counties by early afternoon.
As we continue to work through the afternoon and into the evening hours, this system will slowly push through the area. However, temperatures will continue to slowly cool. So by the evening hours, I expect to see a rain snow mix in areas mainly along and north of I-44.
Now obviously the ground is very warm, so what ever snow would fall would have a very hard time accumulating. If we had any accumulations they would be on the light side. Most of this should be out of here by 10pm on Friday night.
Temperatures will be much cooler over the weekend as we will struggle to reach 50 degrees which stinks for a weekend. However, we should be mainly on the dry side.
Our next system rolls in on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with chances for thunderstorms returning. Remember you can always get my long range Heady Pattern at headypattern.com
LONG RANGE FORECAST IS BELOW BASED OFF THE HEADY PATTERN:
Here is your 7-day forecast:
Also we have our free WEATHER APP that lets you access our forecast, blog, radar and weather alerts. I think it’s a must if you own an Apple or Android phone.
LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)
SLIGHT CHANCES: MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.
IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT: THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US MUCH BETTER PRECIPITATION CHANCES
Next Week: Warming up early in the week with chances for showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. As another wave works in on Friday with cooler temperatures, we could see a rain/snow mix returning to the area.
March 27th- April 2nd: A cool start to the week with rain chances on Sunday. Mild temperatures return for the middle of the week with thunderstorm chances on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
April 3rd-10th: Warm with thunderstorms that could be strong to severe to start the week. Temperatures will cool down a bit for the middle of the week with showers sticking around through the middle of the week. Chances for thunderstorms return for the weekend.
