Late Saturday March 19th Update – First Full Week of Spring Knocking on our Door

Good late Saturday evening, everyone. Spring 2016 officially kicked off at 11:31 PM, but Mother Nature will be a little late in terms of making it feel like spring this week. It was cold to start Saturday morning with us warming up a bit during the day. After we started in the upper 20s to lower 30s, we topped out near 50° across the area. At least we’re not dealing with anything major on the radar below…

Any rain/snow chances working through Missouri should stay off to our east as an upper-level low works through the state Sunday. Its movement keeps us dry, but it’ll keep some cloud cover around to start the day…

Despite some cloud cover around by Sunday morning and into the afternoon, it’ll be another cold start due to the northwest wind. After we start near 28° Sunday morning, we’ll rebound into the upper 40s with skies turning mostly sunny late Sunday afternoon. Keep an eye on the wind, though. The wind could gust near 25 at times during the day…

So, the first full day of spring won’t feel like it. Once our upper-level low moves out, we’ll start warming up. We’ll be in the 60s by Monday afternoon and well into the 70s by Tuesday and Wednesday. We’ll definitely be warm ahead of our next system that’ll work in from the west late Wednesday and into Thursday…

wednesday

That system will bring thunderstorm chances back into the picture late Wednesday and into Thursday. Right now, if there was a severe threat with the t-storms late Wednesday and into Thursday morning, that threat would be low. Doug and I will keep our eyes on the setup as we proceed through the week. After the system pushes through, we’re back into the 50s by Good Friday. As we rebound into the lower 60s by Saturday, we should see rain chances return by Easter Sunday.

If you’re curious as to how we look going into the next several weeks, Doug has you covered with the long-range forecast and the latest on his pattern over at headypattern.com

Have a good night and a great Sunday!

Doug

LONG RANGE FORECAST IS BELOW BASED OFF THE HEADY PATTERN:

Here is your 7-day forecast:

Also we have our free WEATHER APP that lets you access our forecast, blog, radar and weather alerts. I think it’s a must if you own an Apple or Android phone.

LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)

SLIGHT CHANCES:  MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.

IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT:  THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US MUCH BETTER PRECIPITATION CHANCES

Next Week:  Warming up early in the week with chances for showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  As another wave works in on Friday with cooler temperatures, we could see a rain/snow mix returning to the area.

March 27th- April 2nd:  A cool start to the week with rain chances on Sunday.  Mild temperatures return for the middle of the week with thunderstorm chances on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

April 3rd-10th:  Warm with thunderstorms that could be strong to severe to start the week.  Temperatures will cool down a bit for the middle of the week with showers sticking around through the middle of the week.  Chances for thunderstorms return for the weekend.
