Wednesday Evening March 23rd Update – Storm Chances Tonight and We’ll Look Down the Road

Good Wednesday evening, everyone. Nick here with the blog update at Doug’s request tonight. It was windy and warm again with highs going into the middle to upper 70s. In fact, it was really windy that the roof of Los Luna’s in Columbus was peeled off by the strong winds today!

That was actually before the t-storms got going this evening. As of the 9 PM hour, we had t-storms going through the area on the radar below…

The storms have been strong and some have gone severe due to 60 mph winds and hail up to the size of quarters. We’ll continue with these storm chances until about midnight and we’ll quiet down after that…

These storm chances are all ahead of a cold front pushing through. The front will be east of us by the time we hit sunrise Thursday morning…

With that said, though, we’ll still deal with some of the wind on the back side of the system as we go into Thursday. With a west (sometimes a northwest) wind as we go through Thursday, we’ll start the day near 40° and have afternoon highs only top out near 50°. At least we won’t have to deal with any t-storm chances during the day tomorrow…

As far as temperatures go, we’ll be up and down as we get into the Easter holiday weekend. Good Friday looks… well, good… with mostly sunny skies and highs going into the lower to middle 60s. Saturday looks mild with highs in the middle 60s, but our next system will bring rain chances Saturday and continue into Easter Sunday. As that works through, we’ll trend cooler again for Sunday…

After the weekend, we’ll return to more milder air going into early next week. By next Tuesday and Wednesday, we’ll watch another system bring t-storm chances back into the area. Wednesday could be a possible severe threat so we’ll keep our eyes on it.

If you’re curious as to how we look going into the next several weeks, Doug has you covered with the long-range forecast and the latest on his pattern over at headypattern.com

Have a good night and a great Thursday!

Nick

LONG RANGE FORECAST IS BELOW BASED OFF THE HEADY PATTERN:

Here is your 7-day forecast:

Remember that you can sign up for WeatherCall by clicking the WeatherCall link at the top of the page. WeatherCall, in our opinion, is the best tool on the market to keep you safe during severe weather.

Also we have our free WEATHER APP that lets you access our forecast, blog, radar and weather alerts. I think it’s a must if you own an Apple or Android phone.

LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)

SLIGHT CHANCES:  MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.

IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT:  THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US MUCH BETTER PRECIPITATION CHANCES

March 28th- April 2nd:  After rain chances on Sunday, mild temperatures return for the middle of the week with thunderstorm chances on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

April 3rd-10th:  Warm with thunderstorms that could be strong to severe to start the week.  Temperatures will cool down a bit for the middle of the week with showers sticking around through the middle of the week.  Chances for thunderstorms return for the weekend.
