Saturday Evening April 2nd Update – The Week Ahead Looks Great To Start

Good Saturday evening, everyone. Saturday turned out to be a quiet day across the area, and the quiet weather setup allowed us to rebound nicely after a cold start in the morning. The Joplin Regional Airport started at 29° in the morning and rebounded to a high of 68° today. Thankfully, it won’t be so cold going into Sunday morning. It’ll also be quiet again with nothing moving in on the radar below…

Going into Sunday, we’ll actually have a setup that will funnel a good wind out of the southwest throughout the day. The surface map below shows how everything looked by 10 PM Saturday night…

The low north of the area, up in Canada, will work to the south and strengthen as we go through Sunday. Combine that with the area of high pressure out over Texas, we’ll get a southwest wind that could gust up to 30 mph at times Sunday afternoon. That’s what will allow for another quick warm-up during the day. We’ll start in the lower to middle 40s Sunday morning and quickly warm into the 70s during the afternoon. Joplin should top out near 74° and I wouldn’t be surprised if some spots west of Joplin topped out in the middle to upper 70s…

Monday isn’t looking bad, either. We’ll keep things quiet with mostly sunny skies, but a north wind will mean we cool things down just a touch. The high-resolution NAM below has a fairly good idea about the highs for Monday. We’ll see highs Monday top out in the lower 70s…

Our best shot for rain and t-storms this week will come with a system working in late Tuesday and early Wednesday. The NAM below backs up that forecast…

nextsystem

That system doesn’t look like a big deal in terms of strong or severe t-storms. It looks like just regular rain and regular t-storms Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning. After the system moves out, we’ll trend a little cooler for Thursday and to start the upcoming weekend out. There is a system by the weekend that we’re watching. It may bring a few showers on Saturday, but the better shot for rain will come in on that following Sunday. Remember, for all of the long-range Heady Pattern, Doug has you covered over on headypattern.com

Have a good night and a great Sunday!

Also we have our free WEATHER APP that lets you access our forecast, blog, radar and weather alerts. I think it’s a must if you own an Apple or Android phone.

LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)

SLIGHT CHANCES:  MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.

IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT:  THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US MUCH BETTER PRECIPITATION CHANCES

April 11th-16th:  Mild with slight chances for storms on Monday, but a better chances on Wednesday and Thursday.  Cooling down the rest of the week.
