Early Monday AM April 18th Update – Rain & T-Storm Chances for Today

Good early Monday morning, everyone. We managed to warm up into the lower to middle 70s in most spots on Sunday. However, we had our first round of rain and a few t-storms work through Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening. As of 12:10 AM, most spots are dry but our next round of rain and some t-storms are working in from the southwest on the radar below…

We’ll continue to see several rounds of rain and t-storms over a good portion of the work/school week ahead thanks to our weather setup. Have a look at the surface map below…

setup

It doesn’t look much different from Saturday’s and Sunday’s setup. The front is stuck to our west and that’s what will funnel rain chances throughout our Monday. We’ll have another round of rain and t-storms overnight and especially by the start of the morning rush. Nothing severe, though. We should start near 61° this morning…

Keep the rain gear handy for the rest of the day. We’ll continue with periods of rain and t-storms going into Monday afternoon. As long as we remain under cloudy skies, the best we can do for highs today will be near 67°…

The system will keep funneling rain chances all the way through Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. For now, the rain chances look reasonably spread out and we don’t see any prolonged periods of heavy rain on the horizon. With that said, the threat for any flash flooding is pretty low. That’s a good thing because this system will allow us to catch up on rain totals for the year so far. With us being behind by at least 5 and a half inches of rain for the year, the expected 2 to 4 inches on the Rain Tracker below is good news…

We dry out and warm up Friday and Saturday before another storm system works in by next Sunday.  Remember you can always find Doug’s in-depth thoughts on the Heady Pattern and his long range forecast with severe weather forecasts over at headypattern.com

LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)

SLIGHT CHANCES:  MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.

IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT:  THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US MUCH BETTER PRECIPITATION CHANCES

April 24th-30th: A warming trend through the week with two storm system working through during the week.  This will give us thunderstorm chances through the week.  The best chances for strong to severe storms will be Wednesday through Friday.

May 1st-7th:  Warming trend through the middle of the week.  thunderstorms chances on Tuesday and Wednesday that could be strong to severe.  Cool temperatures work in on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
