Early Monday AM May 2nd Update – Cooler than Normal to Start the Week

Good early Monday morning, everyone. We finally made it to the month of May but it didn’t exactly feel like May yesterday. Normally, we should have highs around 74° to start the month, but we only managed to get highs in the middle 60s in most spots yesterday. In fact, it may be a bit of a struggle to warm up today due to cloud cover and scattered rain that will continue to pop up on the radar below…

A system off to our southwest will be working across the area today. That’s what will keep the cloud cover around and some rain chances all around throughout the day. There could be a few showers around to start our morning out, but a slightly better chance for this afternoon…

mondayrainchances

If you don’t see rain to start the day, it’ll be cloudy and chilly with lows starting in the lower to middle 40s. With a northwest wind at 5-10 mph, mostly cloudy skies and chances for rain throughout most of the day, the best we can do is warm up near 60° for the afternoon…

After this system moves out tonight, we really start to improve for the rest of the week. In the upper levels, we’ll have an upper level ridge develop and work into our area. Once it gets here, not only does it keep us dry but it’ll also really warm us up…

upperridge

We’ll be back into the lower 70s for Wednesday and Thursday. As the ridge works in, we’ll see highs in the upper 70s on Friday and lower 80s by Saturday…

Once we head into the weekend, though, we’ll see our next storm system work in from the west. There could be a few t-storms on Saturday, but our better shot for t-storms should work in on Sunday.

LONG RANGE FORECAST IS BELOW BASED OFF THE HEADY PATTERN:

Here is your 7-day forecast:

Remember that you can sign up for WeatherCall by clicking the WeatherCall link at the top of the page. WeatherCall, in our opinion, is the best tool on the market to keep you safe during severe weather.

Also we have our free WEATHER APP that lets you access our forecast, blog, radar and weather alerts. I think it’s a must if you own an Apple or Android phone.

LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)

SLIGHT CHANCES:  MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.

IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT:  THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US MUCH BETTER PRECIPITATION CHANCES

May 8th-14th:  Warm with a chance for thunderstorms on Sunday.  Warm temperatures continue through most of the week with good chances for thunderstorms Wednesday through Saturday.  We should have good chances for severe weather through the period.
