Saturday PM Blog: More T-Storms with severe threat increasing

Good Saturday afternoon!  I hope your weekend is going great so far.  Of course there are a lot of events going on this weekend with the 5th anniversary of the Joplin tornado.  That is a very special heartfelt day for me and many around this area as so many were effected.  I was on-air through the entire tornado and will never forget each and every moment of that day.  I will have to blog about that day through my eyes tomorrow.

At least the weather has been pretty nice so far.  We could see a few pop-up storms a little later today.  However, most of the day will be dry.  Take a look at the radar below.

As we work through the afternoon, a few scattered thunderstorms will pop-up mainly after 2-3pm.

This afternoon

These will work on through and back to mostly clear skies for us tonight.  Most of the thunderstorms tomorrow will stay west of the area, but chances will start to go back up on Monday once again.

Monday precip

Now, our severe threat is low on Monday, but is will start to rise through the week.  We have an upper level wave that will spit chunks of energy at us all week long and into the holiday weekend.  We will have scattered thunderstorms Tuesday through Thursday with some of these being strong to severe.  This is right on track with the Heady Pattern as we have been sitting in a 49 day cycle now since last July.  However, we are seeing a monster switch right now in the cycle.  The pattern will hold for a few more months but the cycle is changing and it is amazing to watch.  I won’t bore you with the details but of course you can get more information on that and my long range forecast on headypattern.com

Friday and Saturday look a little more interesting as I like to say.  We will have a wave kick out into the central plains.

Friday 500

This should be a pretty good set-up with great storm energy for severe weather.  We will see if it holds and all comes together.

Friday preci

As of right now, I think our highest severe threat over the next 7 days is next Friday and Saturday.  I will keep you updated.

LONG RANGE FORECAST IS BELOW BASED OFF THE HEADY PATTERN:

Also we have our free WEATHER APP that lets you access our forecast, blog, radar and weather alerts. I think it’s a must if you own an Apple or Android phone.

LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)

SLIGHT CHANCES:  MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.

IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT:  THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM

Next Week:  Scattered showers and thunderstorms through the week.  Some of these could be strong to severe on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Our severe threat will increase for Friday and Saturday.  Temperatures will be warm with highs in the 80s through the week.

May 29th-June 4th:  The rest of the holiday weekend looks nice with warm temperatures and mainly dry conditions.  The warm temperatures stick around through the week with a weak upper level system sticking around firing off a few pop-up showers from Tuesday through Friday.  However, severe threat will be low.

June 5th-12th:  Another warm week across the area with scattered afternoon thunderstorms which is very summerlike this week.  We will have these chances from Sunday through Thursday with another slow moving wave. On Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures will cool down a bit but warm right back up for the weekend.
