Good early Tuesday morning, everyone. We didn’t have a bad start to our first work week of the month of June. Mostly sunny skies yesterday with a light west breeze allowed highs to go into the middle to upper 80s. We’ll be a little cooler today thanks to a weak cold front that’s working through this morning. The front isn’t really doing much for us in terms of rain or t-storms on the radar below…
In terms of where the front is, it was working through on this surface map depicted at 10 PM last night…
Behind the front, we’ll have a little drier and cooler air work in for today. The drier air will feel nice under mostly sunny skies from sunrise to sunset…
With a light northeast breeze behind the front, it will cool us down a little compared to yesterday. Instead of highs in the middle to upper 80s, we should have highs near 79° in Joplin today. Outlying areas will vary between the upper 70s to lower 80s…
Once we get a southerly wind back for Wednesday, that will send temperatures back up. We’ll be back into the middle 80s Wednesday afternoon as we keep things dry through the most of the coming weekend. Not only will we be dry by the weekend, we’ll have temperatures climb close to 90°. That will be due to an upper level ridge that will still develop and move in from the west. The ridge should be close to us, if not on top of us, by the time we get into Friday afternoon…
As far as rain chances go, we’re dry for the rest of the week. Sticking with Doug’s pattern, we’ll continue to stay warm (if not hot) through the weekend and into early next week. Rain and t-storm chances will return by late Sunday and early next week as well.
Don’t forget that Doug has you covered on the long-range forecast and his latest thoughts on the pattern over at headypattern.com
Have a great Tuesday!
