Good Thursday afternoon! I hope you are having a great week so far. Mine has been very busy but good. I am trying to get some stuff done around the house today before heading into work. I actually need to mow the weeds before but I am not sure if I want to even ride and mow in the heat. We should get scattered thunderstorms a little later this afternoon. We could use it. We haven’t had a lot of rain over the past couple of weeks and we are starting to dry out a bit.
Today is going to be our 10th straight day that we have had 90 plus degree heat. Plus, 12 out of the past 14 days have been at or above 90 degrees. Take a look at the radar below.
Already, scattered thunderstorms have been going out across central KS. As a cold front dips south this afternoon, scattered thunderstorms will pop-up along the front.
As the front sags south, mainly after 3pm we will have scattered thunderstorms. Some of these could be strong and possibly a few severe. The best chance for strong to severe will be in SE KS with the main threat being hail and wind. These will continue through the evening hours. Lets move to about 7pm.
I put a circle around the area that I think has the best chance to be strong and low grade severe. We will continue to have scattered storms through the evening and into the overnight hours. Lets move to about midnight.
Still even at this time some scattered thunderstorms sticking around but weakening. We will have some scattered storms sticking around on Friday morning but our front lifts back north by Friday afternoon. This means the best chances for thunderstorms will lift north by the afternoon hours.
Of course the heat and the humidity stick around for the weekend. You can always get my long range pattern and thoughts for the summer on headypattern.com I will keep you updated.
