Good midday Thursday! I hope your week is going great so far. Mine has been pretty good. I am hanging out with my son Christian right now as he is complaining it is to hot to go outside. What is the deal, when we were kids we didn’t even think about it. We just went outside and stayed outside until we were told to come inside, lol. So as soon as I get done writing this up, we are going outside and doing stuff. I really need to get my mustang cleaned up as I get attacked by every bug known to man when I drive home in the middle of the night.
It has definitely been hot. Today is day number 5 that we have had temperatures at or above our average high for this time of the year. I really don’t consider it a heat wave because our average high is 91 and we have only been topping out at 94ish over the past few days. It is the humidity that has been so bad. When you have high humidity it actually makes it harder to heat up with the moisture in the air. Around here we really need temperatures at about 97 and a heat index about 105 for 5 days in a row to be considered a heat wave. Today we could push that 97 degree point. Not much on the radar around here. We should have mostly sunny skies through the day.
The heat will work in again this afternoon.
Most of us will top out around 97 with a heat index around 108 today. It is gets worse on Friday.
High temperatures will be around 98 with a heat index around 111 in most locations. This is all caused by the heat dome or a big dome of high pressure across the region.
This keeps the jet stream well to the north and we stay hot and humid. Until this breaks down, we don’t see many changes. However, we will see a few changes by early next week.
Our High will slip a little farther west and allow the jet to drop a little farther south. This should allow a cold front to work into the area with some scattered thunderstorms from Monday through Thursday. Here is a look at Monday.
However, in general, we stay pretty hot over the next several weeks. To get all of my long range forecasts and long range Heady Pattern with a look at the rest of the summer, fall and winter, go to headypattern.com
