Late Monday PM August 15th Update – Warming Back Up

Good Monday evening, everyone! This has been an interesting August of 2016 so far. So, why not continue that with a little taste of fall today. Thanks to the cloud cover and a little rain for some, most spots only topped out in the middle to upper 70s. Areas west of Pittsburg and Fort Scott did manage to go into the lower 80s today. We will keep things quiet and warm back up over the next few days before rain chances work back in.  Take a look at the radar below…

Our setup will be changing as we go into Tuesday. The same system that gave us the cloudy day and flooding rain for Louisiana and parts of Illinois, Missouri and Indiana was centered over the central United States. You can see it on the surface map below…

setup

This front will finally push east and begin to fall apart. As we continue with some clearing skies as the front exits, we could see some patchy fog to start our Tuesday morning out. Otherwise, it’s a quiet start with lows in the lower to middle 60s…

amfog

As we lose the fog during the morning, we’ll have everyone warm up for the afternoon. Under eventually mostly sunny skies, we’ll have afternoon highs top out around 86°…

tuesdaypm

I expect us to stay quiet and warm for Wednesday with highs back in the middle to upper 80s. With a southerly wind getting some moisture back in here for Thursday, we could have some spotty t-storm chances return. Otherwise, we stay warm for Thursday. Our next best shot for rain and t-storms will arrive just in time for the weekend…

weekendsystem

Right now, the best rain chances with our next front will be from Friday afternoon into the day on Saturday. This will be quite a cold front that will work through because it will keep things a little cooler than normal around here. Look at the weekend forecast below…

weekendforecast

None of those are typos! We go from 85° on Friday to highs near 80° under mostly cloudy skies for Saturday with t-storms around. As we clear out for Sunday, we’ll start in the upper 50s to near 60° Sunday morning before we top out in the upper 70s. That’s middle to late September weather for another August weekend around here! Going into next week, we will warm back up before another shot for t-storms will return by the middle of next week.

If you’re curious about Doug’s latest thoughts on the pattern and how we look going into the upcomig fall (even winter) season, he has you covered over on headypattern.com

Have a good night and a great Tuesday, everyone!

LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)

SLIGHT CHANCES:  MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.

IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT:  THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM

August 21st-27th:  Warming up with t-storm chances returning for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
