Late Sunday PM August 21st Update – Warming Up To Start A New School/Work Week

Good Sunday evening, everyone! Hopefully, you all had a great weekend because Mother Nature just spoiled us in the late part of August. We had rain to deal with late Friday and early Saturday, but Saturday afternoon turned out to be just great with clearing skies and highs around 80°. For today, we actually started chilly with lows in the middle 50s (normally, we should be starting in the upper 60s for this part of August!) and we warmed up nicely into the lower 80s.

We will see a change in our setup for the coming work/school week including a warm up and t-storm chances working back in. For tonight and tomorrow, we don’t need to worry about anything popping up on the radar below…

We will see our setup start to change as we go through tonight and into tomorrow. Have a look at the surface map below. The high pressure over us that kept us quiet today will be moving off to the east. That will allow a southerly wind to start warming us back up and allow a warm front to work in from the south…

setup

Even with our setup changing going into Monday, we’ll keep things pretty quiet for most of the day. We’ll start a bit chilly again with lows in the upper 50s, but we’ll warm up with a light south breeze and mostly sunny skies. Highs should be back in the middle 80s for Monday afternoon…

monday

The warm front begins to lift in from the south as we go into Tuesday, but it’ll fall apart as it works through. Despite that, we’ll have enough moisture and warmth to work with to see t-storm chances return Tuesday morning and afternoon. If we play our cards right and get a break in between, we could have highs Tuesday go back into the middle 80s…

tuesday

T-storm chances could continue Tuesday night and as early as Wednesday morning, but we’ll definitely heat up by Wednesday. Highs should be back near 90° under partly sunny skies for Wednesday afternoon…

hotwednesday

That upcoming cold front will be our main weather driver for Thursday and into a good portion of the upcoming weekend. As it works in, that will keep t-storm chances around…

weekendsystem

As far as the upcoming weekend is concerned, Friday should be our best shot for weekend rain chances with highs only topping out in the lower to middle 80s. We’ll clear the skies out during the day on Saturday, but don’t expect quite a prolonged cool down. We’ll be back near 90° by next Sunday

For the latest on the long-range forecast and if you’re curious as to what Doug’s is seeing in the months ahead, he has you covered over on headypattern.com.

Have a good night and a great week!
