Friday AM Blog: More thunderstorms, more heavy rains!!!!!!!!!!

Good Friday morning!  I hope you are all keeping your heads above the water.  Wow, we have had some good rains over the past 12 hours.  This amazes me, we have had consistently had the rain all summer long.  Since I have lived here (December 2002) we have never had a summer that my grass hasn’t gone dormant once all summer.  We have stayed green and most importantly I have had to mow every week through the summer.  In fact I need to mow right now.  I actually need a new riding mower.  Well, I need a new used riding mower.  I think I will get on craigslist or Joplin give and take and take a look.  Mine is a 2000 craftsman that has seen MUCH better days.  Every time I mow I say this is it, this mower is done, lol.  Well my mower is done.  But my grass just keeps growing and my mower won’t keep up.

We have had heavy rains through the overnight hours with a lot of areas in the 1-3″ range.  However, we aren’t done yet.  We have a cold front that is going to pass through tonight and give us another round of heavy amounts of heavy rains.  Take a look at the radar below.

The heaviest rains have shifted north of the area, but we still have scattered thunderstorms as I am writing this.  We will have some scattered thunderstorms through the morning hours.  Here is a look at this morning.

Friday AM

We will dry out a bit through the day and heat up near 90 degrees with partly sunny skies.

Friday PM temps

However, during the evening hours we will see thunderstorms popping back up.  This could affect some high school football games.  I am hoping they will hold off a bit, but I am not confident of that at all.  Here is a look at the evening hours.

Friday evening

Thunderstorms will increase through the night with heavy amounts of rain.

However, most of the storms will be out of here by Saturday morning.
