Tuesday Evening January 31st Update – Staying Quiet For The Next Few Days

Good Tuesday evening, everyone. It has been another quiet day around our neck of the woods. We started out cold this morning and wasted no time warming up. Despite a northeast wind in place, we started in the upper 20s this morning and climbed back into the upper 50s and lower 60s this afternoon. Even with on and off cloud cover today, we kept things dry. It has actually been 9 days since we last saw rain around here and that trend will continue tonight with the radar below staying dry here…

For tonight and tomorrow, we’ll keep quiet once again with mostly clear skies overnight and mostly sunny skies for your Wednesday. The future radar and satellite below backs that idea up as any good cloud cover and rain chances stay south of us…

We’ll still have a northeast breeze in place and that should bring some slightly cooler air in for Wednesday afternoon. After we start in the lower to middle 30s Wednesday morning, afternoon highs across the area will top out in the lower 50s…

We stay quiet but cool for Thursday and Friday with highs back into the lower 40s. Going into the weekend, we’ll trend a bit warmer. That’s when rain chances will finally work back into the picture. With the way things look, we’ll have our best rain chances this weekend come in late Saturday and continue through Sunday morning. The GFS below wants rain to start late Saturday afternoon and into Saturday evening…

We should be dry for Sunday afternoon and for Monday with highs probably pushing close to 70° Monday afternoon. We’ll need to keep an eye by the middle of next week, though. Even though we may see rain chances with another system by Tuesday, look at 850 mb temperatures by Wednesday evening…

Tuesday’s system will definitely be pulling some Arctic air back in here by Wednesday. If moisture can still stick around as the chill returns Wednesday, we could see some snow chances on Wednesday.

We’ll keep an eye on that setup over the next several days. Remember to head over to headypattern.com for Doug’s latest thoughts on the pattern and his long range forecast out to March.

Have a good night and a great Wednesday!

LONG RANGE FORECAST: Based off of the HP(Heady Pattern)

SLIGHT CHANCES:  MEAN IT IS A WEAKER SYSTEM THAT WILL GIVE US SCATTERED SHOWERS OR SNOW SHOWERS.

IF I DON’T SAY SLIGHT:  THAT MEANS THIS IS A STRONGER SYSTEM

Next Week:  A mild start to the week with rain and snow chances with cooler temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Staying cooler the rest of the week with rain chances back in on Saturday.

February 12th-18th:  Rain and snow chances on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.  Warming back up the rest of the week with rain chances on Saturday.
