Monday Evening October 23rd – Roller Coaster Ride of Temperatures Continues

Good Monday evening, everyone. Nick here with the blog update this evening at Doug’s request. Believe it or not, we had yet another cold front sweep across the area today. It was a drier front than the system we saw over the weekend. No rain came with today’s front, but we did notice some clouds passing through and the wind shift out of the northwest. That eventual northwest breeze didn’t stop us from hitting mild afternoon highs in the upper 60s to near 70. The northwest breeze will mean another cool night ahead of us with the skies staying quiet and the radar below keeping us dry…

So, how cool will it be by Tuesday morning with the northwest breeze and the quiet skies? It won’t be frost or freeze territory (yet), but it will be cool. Expect overnight lows to drop into the lower to middle 40s…

We’ll have mostly sunny skies during the day, but the northwest breeze will still be at it between 15 and 25 mph. That means we won’t warm up very much for Tuesday afternoon. It’ll be a nice day, but a chilly one with afternoon highs in the middle to upper 50s…

The south breeze will return on a quiet Wednesday to get afternoon highs back into the middle 60s. We’ll also keep things quiet on Thursday with highs rounding out near 70 degrees. Once we get into the weekend, things will be changing once again. Have a look at our next front’s expected position by Thursday morning…

We’re mild ahead of the front on Thursday. It’s Friday that we’ll really start to see another good cool-down. Once the cooler air really starts working in late Thursday night and early Friday morning, have a look at where we’ll be by Friday afternoon…

Those aren’t typos. We’ll have temperatures in the 40s for Friday afternoon. By Saturday morning, we could have our first hard freeze across the area as overnight lows drop into the upper 20s…

We’ll have temperatures rebound into the lower 50s Saturday afternoon and return to mild territory as we work toward Halloween. We’ll have to overcome some cold mornings this weekend before then. Don’t forget that Doug has your long-range forecast and latest thoughts on the pattern covered over at headypattern.com

Have a good night and a great Tuesday!

Nick
