Late Sunday PM January 21st – Cooler Air Working Back In Monday

Good late Sunday evening, everyone. It did NOT feel like a late January day. Thanks to a potent storm system, we had a good south breeze take us from the lower 50s into the lower 70s this afternoon! In fact, the official high at Joplin Regional was 72. That was 1 degree away from tying the record of 73 set back in 1957. Not only did we have the spring-like warmth, we had some spring-like rain and t-storms across parts of the area late this afternoon and into the evening. There were even some strong t-storms in parts of SW MO. The t-storms have moved out of here and we’re getting a quick break in the action on the radar below…

We’re not quite done with this system just yet. We’ll have the cold front sweeping through early Monday morning and the cooler air will work back in with it. Not only that, wrap-around moisture will result in a rain/snow mix for some spots. The forecast below breaks down what to expect for Monday along with a look at the rest of the week…

Don’t forget that Doug has your long-range forecast & latest thoughts on the pattern covered over on

Have a good night and a great Monday!
